‘It’s time to get out of the rat race!’ was the slogan for NTU-IIC’s inaugural event, Investology, which ended on a high note on 5 February 2010. Sponsored by AIA Singapore, Star Horizon Learning, Jack’s Place and The Heeren Shops, Investology is a two-pronged approach to challenge students’ ability and knowledge on making sound financial decisions, through a Cashflow 101 boardgame competition and three weekly online quizzes. The Cashflow 101 competition featured the use of the Cashflow 101 board game created by Robert Kiyosaki, author of Rich Dad, Poor Dad, and emulates real life situations in making financial decisions that will affect one’s cash flow. Players need to get out of the ‘rat race’ as soon as they can, by generating passive income. After ninety minutes of adrenaline-rushing action, the champion and runners-up walked away with attractive cash prizes of $500, $400 and $300 respectively, while the next seven players each received a $30 cash prize.
