FINEX 2010

The second edition of Singapore Outreach’s Financial Expedition (FINEX) concluded successfully on 24th July 2010. Almost 40 teams of students from various junior colleges, polytechnics and secondary schools joined this expedition challenge, organized by NTU-IIC’s Outreach Programme and sponsored by Citi-NIE Financial Literacy Hub.

FINEX was specially planned for students to learn about financial literacy in an engaging and exciting way. It attracted youths to come forth in teams to complete a challenging race of financial games around the city. The games included a financial terms charade, a game incorporating risk and questions about financial literacy, and a simulated scenario including stocks, work and school.

Participants showed their enthusiasm in the game activities throughout the race and took home some learning points amidst the fun as well. As Desmond Lin from Singapore Polytechnic commented, “The games were innovative and interactive, well planned to give participants a better understanding of financial concepts in a fun manner.”

After an adrenaline-packed morning, the top three teams were awarded with shopping vouchers of $450, $150 and $90 respectively. FINEX 2010 came to a successful close and as commented by a participant, Jian Hao from Nanyang Junior College, “FINEX 2010 was great and I will certainly recommend my juniors to join next year!”
