OCBC Securities Stock Challenge 2008 is an online competition in which participants, either individually or in teams of up to 4 people, sweats it out over a period of three weeks, beginning on the 6th September 2008.
Using OCBC Securities' sophisticated platform, the virtual game simulates realistically real-time stock environment with a starting capital of SGD 100,000.
Adrenaline-pumping thrills aside, the practical nature arms you with the chance to apply theoretical and technical knowledge and real evaluation of much-touted "investment tips", without real financial losses.
Eligibility
All University, Polytechnic and Junior College/Institutions students are welcome to sign up for it. You can chose to form a team of 2 to 4 people, or simply fight for the top spot in the Individual category.
Feel free to form an inter-school team and get your peers from any school to join you in the game.

How do I get my pictures onto the Hall of Fame?
i. Take picture with our Bull and Bear, available only at road shows ( refer to Annex A).
ii. Rename the photo to “OCBC Securities Stock Challenge <your name> 2008.jpg”, eg. “OCBC Securities Stock Challenge James Tan 2008.jpg”
iii. Upload them onto your blogs, Friendster, Facebook, LiveJournal, MySpace, MSN Messenger or any personal website, and add in the caption 'Take Cover, Take Charge in OCBC Securities Stock Challenge 2008!'. For Friendster, Facebook and Messenger, it must be the display picture.

YIP is an initiative by OCBC Securities in partnership with i-Cube. It is a bundle of OCBC Securities products and services specifically designed with the novice investor in mind. This includes an online trading account for students above 21 or a pre-trading account for those under 21. In addition, every YIP member will receive the Young Investor Pocketbook, compiled by the 2007/08 student committee of NTU Investment Interactive Club for new investors.

Why should I sign up for YIP?
We encourage all our participants to sign up for the YIP virtual account as an invaluable opportunity to further hone their skills.
Moreover, we note that some of you may want to grow the portfolio which you pain-staking formulated during our stock challenge. Opening a YIP account will naturally bestow upon you the "porting" option, in which your portfolio can be continued on the YIP platform. That's when you can take on the real challenge.
Bonus Credits for YIP
Existing YIP account will automically have a bonus of SGD2000 credited to their stock challenge account.
For non-YIP account members, you can earn the bonus if SGD2000 by simply filling in and submitting the forms to the OSPL booths during the Launch. Do note that the bonus credits are awarded only if you apply at the booths.

1. Am I allowed to participate in both the Individual and Team Category?
Unfortunately, we do not allow for participants to participate in both categories. Double sign-ups will be automatically filtered out.
2. Can I get my friends from other schools to join me in the competition? What about friends who are not from any of the school institutions (Universities/ Polytechnics/ JCs)?
We greatly welcome any inter-school teams, so feel free to invite your peers from other schools to join you.
We are also not restricting participants to only the above school institutions. As long as your friends are between the ages of 16 to 29, they are welcome to take up our challenge.

3. Do I need to pay a registration fee for the stock challenge?
You have our assurance that our game is absolutely free-of-charge.
4. I would like to know more about the stock platform. What does it involve and is there a way for me to try it out?
Come on down to our live demonstration of the game platform during our Launch on the 6th September. There will be several demonstration booths in the reception area. You will be able to try out the game for yourself and pose any technical questions to our friendly OSPL personnel at the booths.
5. How do I earn bonus credits from the Launch on the 6th of September?
Just simply register your attendance at our booth during the Launch.
You will be given SGD 5000 if you are in the Individual Category. If you are in a Team, your team will be awarded SGD 2000 for every member who attends.
6. What about the bonus credits from the YIP account?
Bonus credits will be given for new YIP sign-ups if you submit the forms to the OSPL booths during the Launch. All existing YIP account members will be automatically given the bonus credits of SGD2000.
7. When will the bonus credits be credited into my account?
The bonus will be credited at the end of the third week, ie the end of game period. This is such that the game can kickoff with everyone on level playing field, which would be fairer. However with the Bonus Credits, participants will stand to gain a higher advantage in terms of ranking than those who had neither come for our launch nor take part in the hall of fame. So what are you waiting for? Take action now, come for our launch, sign up or YIP accounts and take photo with our cute bull and bear.
